What is a Youth Quake? It is a significant political, social or cultural change, arising from the actions and influence of young people. Meath Youth Quake aims to shake up the stereotypes of young people and promote the good work being done by young people, while affecting change with decision makers on issues in County Meath.
We do this through various projects like our Youth Participation Day. This brings together over 100 young people from representing the Secondary Schools in Meath. Workshops are run by Youth Quake with support from Youth Work Ireland Meath on topics and issues raised by Youth Quake.
Opinions are collected from each topic and reports compiled and brought to relevant authorities where action plans are asked to be put in place to address the identified needs.
Youth Quake also collaborates with national agencies like NYCI and Trocaire, to work on large scale projects and in particular around the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
We also advocate and work with those young people whose voice is seldom heard and in particular with those going through the Direct Provision system.
